About Us

Meet our family of 6; Jimmy, Annie, Peyton, Ayden, Giavanna, and Vivanna. We live in a wonderful little community in Newark, Texas. We are the true definition of a basketball family! While it's not always easy, it's been an amazing journey for all of us and we wouldn't want it any other way! This organization is definitely more than a sport or a job to us- it's our calling.

Our Story

In 2011, Jimmy decided to get out of the college coaching arena so that he could spend more time with our family. He took a job working a corporate gig...and for a lack of better words- it wasn't for him! He is a coach at heart and needed to be able to use his gift of coaching and training.

Jimmy wanted to start up a select basketball organization, but one that would be uniquely designed and much different than any other programs in the industry. He wanted to create an organization that was modeled like a sound colligate basketball program- where he could teach players to develop a high basketball IQ, learn the value of being a good teammate, become accustomed to being coachable, and how to thrive in an environment with expectations. Jimmy wanted to be able to place a high emphasis on character and selecting good kiddos with potential, keeping quality over quantity. He wanted to build a program that walked players through the development process all the way through the college recruitment process. Jimmy also wanted to set the bar high for the quality of coaches and trainers that would be within LoneStar, selecting individuals with an exceptionally high level of experience in playing, coaching, and training. Lastly, he wanted a program founded on principles and values that any parent would desire to have their kiddos raised in.

After much prayer, we stood up Texas LoneStar Basketball in August of 2012. In 2021, we opened the doors to our own facility (LoneStar Training Facility) so that we could better serve our families. LoneStar has bestowed more blessings to our family and allowed us to bless others more than we could have ever imagined. We have watched countless young ladies grow up, on and off the court, into role models who are also skilled basketball players. We have gotten to watch numerous young ladies sign college scholarships and fulfill their lifelong goal of playing collegiate basketball. We have developed friendships with the most incredible families, and we know this is still the beginning of God's plan for LoneStar!

Testimonies

"Janessa started training with Jimmy in the 5th grade before Texas LoneStar officially started. Jimmy not only improved her footwork tremendously but he made her non dominant (left) hand just as strong as her dominant (right) hand. To the point that through the recruiting process she had a college coach ask her if she was left handed. Her basketball IQ and ability to see the floor has greatly improved with age as well as consistent training. She ended up being one of the leading scorers on her team every year and developed a perimeter shot that is consistent.

Jimmy has the ability to teach the same fundamentals to each player in a way that works for them. Janessa has a relationship with him to where he can say a few words and she knows exactly what he wants to see. She also had the opportunity to train, be coached, and mentored by Tracey. Janessa further developed the same fundamentals and footwork with Tracey that she initially started with Jimmy. Tracey gave her a alternate perspective that well rounded her as a player. She also had the benefit of Speed, Strength, and Agility training from Tracey geared specifically towards a female basketball player.

Janessa was blessed with some of the same teammates through the majority of her time with the organization. She started as the only 6th grader on an 8th grade with little playing time, to one of 4 Juniors on the top team in the organization. Most of her closest friends have been through her time with this program"
